Another one that began in 2007 and was finished in 2017. Most of the song came together pretty quickly, and as of 2007 I was pretty happy with the verse but the chorus was incomplete and that really sucked the life out of the song. Lyrically, the words lacked cohesiveness, and were far too serious (in addition to being far too morose). On the back end of writing immigrant in June 2017, I just picked up the guitar and began to play this song, and a jauntier more playful mood emerged. Still tinkering with the new chorus, and trying to figure out how best to integrate the whistling bits, but I'm much happier with the song musically and lyrically.
Sometimes it just takes a decade :)
lyrics
Circles start to swallow her
She begins to see through the blur
Reopens her sunburned eyes
Much too late to survive
Romeo needs no second thought
Violence is the best resort
What would I do without you around
I haven't got a plan
Take me by the hand now
darling, to your distant land
Montague hearts Capulet
until the end of time
Finish your pantomime
Her majesty politely sighs
After all these years, I’m still surprised
By your brilliant lies
Blood poured down the subway car
no Romeo didn’t get very far
Anachronistic idiot’s dead
He wasn’t right in the head
Take me by the hand now
darling, to your twilight land
Montague hearts Capulet
until the end of time
